It's time to take a closer look at the offerings of Maria's Trading Post, one of many vendors who sell creative, healthy products for consumption at "La Feria" in Perez Zeledon weekly on Thursdays and Fridays.
Many of the products on display are made by Maria herself, while others are homemade by neighbors and locals including indigenous Costa Ricans. It appears that Maria's more popular item is her line of hot sauces, with many varieties to satisfy a wide spectrum of palettes. Add to that fried plantain chips, creamy peanut butter, and sweet jams. Maria also offers pure honey with comb intact, organic local ground cinnamon, organic coffee from nearby Pacuarito, and cacoa powder from local indigenous Costa Ricans.
Mention that you would like to see her line of goat cheese, Feta, Greek yogurt and Zatziki dip, along with Mozzarella, Ricotta, grated Parmesan, and fresh and natural Buffalo cheese from The Buffalo Farm. Maria also carries a healthy line of imported nuts and seeds. Even better, you'll find fresh Costa Rican macadamia and cashew nuts as well as coconut oil from nearby Platanillo.
Remember to ask for Maria's homemade beef jerky, candied ginger snack and heavenly chocolate sauce. The only negative we could find on her well stocked table was making decisions on what to buy. Or you could try one of everything. For now, follow the link to her entry in the Biz Directory to make special orders or visit Maria at La Feria. |
