Remember the bulletin board at Supermercado La Corona? Well not only did they take it down, they closed the store. It wasn't all that great anyway. Sure, it's true, there were lots of ads blowing in the breeze, lots of options for making those connections. But, although bulletin boards serve a purpose, they do pose some problems.
First, you have to go to the place where they are. Reading them while holding your weeks worth of groceries isn't so much fun either. Especially when you are hot and tired. So what can one do to make that special connection, find a home, clear out and sell the contents of a closet or buy more stuff to takes its place? There is hope.

Focus On The Feria: The Trading Post |
|

|

It's time to take a closer look at the offerings of Maria's Trading Post, one of many vendors who sell creative, healthy products for consumption at "La Feria" in Perez Zeledon weekly on Thursdays and Fridays.
Many of the products on display are made by Maria herself, while others are homemade by neighbors and locals including indigenous Costa Ricans. It appears that Maria's more popular item is her line of hot sauces, with many varieties to satisfy a wide spectrum of palettes. Add to that fried plantain chips, creamy peanut butter, and sweet jams. Maria also offers pure honey with comb intact, organic local ground cinnamon, organic coffee from nearby Pacuarito, and cacoa powder from local indigenous Costa Ricans.

Meet Bea. She is friendly, kind, good natured, speaks German, English and Spanish and bakes some of the best breads, desserts, cakes, and pastries at the Feria. She thoughtfully offers gluten-free, vegan and diabetic options as well. Worth mentioning separately, are her famous, extra big, New York City style pretzels- always fresh. Sorry guys, she just got married to a real sweet young man.
You can also find organic coffee and hand made soaps on her table that has the feeling of being at a quaint European Inn. You can, if you let her know by Tuesday, ask for special orders, whether it's something you've always wanted or something from a good memory, or maybe you have special dietary needs. Click to go to the Biz Directory for contact information.

This is the first of many in a series where we will feature vendors of the famous farmer's market (La Feria) in Perez Zeledon, held weekly Thursdays and Fridays. This week we feature Sam, a good friend to many, and a provider of good quality food, health and gift products to all.
Start your city day off right with one of Sam's popular breakfast burritos. While eating you can pass your eyes over the many interesting items she sells. Sam doesn't stop at breakfast either, where you can move on to find lunch burritos and specials, prepared foods and desserts, some raw, some cooked all fresh and delicious. Sam also prepares trail mixes, dried fruits and tomatoes, live cookies and energy bars, flax seed crackers and sprouts.
