The internet to some means freedom. To others it represents the evil of our modern age serving as the greatest deceiver and distractor, of all time, from our true selves. But, somewhere in the middle, when kept in perspective, the internet can be a very useful tool for working towards an objective. Which brings us to the center of this discussion- the new website called Costa Rica South. it was designed and built with no other reason than to serve our growing community here in the Southern Pacific Region of Costa Rica and those that may want to visit or move here.
So many of us "black sheep" from the other society have come to Costa Rica to build our Nirvanic Nests and prepare ourselves for, or even create, a new conscious society. We all have been quite busy and haven't had much time to notice how many others like us are doing the same thing. It is true that the Southern Zone, although not much bigger than a postage stamp, houses so many like minded pioneers spread out in many pockets separated only by a few beautiful mountains, valleys, rivers and many bumpy roads. And now we have an opportunity to create and participate in this new way of thinking without having to drive as much.
By using this new, user friendly, proactive, interactive website to connect in real time we can exchange, barter, buy or sell with a local currency, ideas, products, services, food, plants, or anything local. We can have forums and meetings, post in the classifieds or directory or put events on the calendar. How wonderful it feels to say "for the people by the people" and mean it. [Goosebumps forming]
This truly is an opportunity to help build our community without having to waste fuel and precious time. Of course there will be times when we want to get together for gatherings but most important we will be able to make the most use out of our trip to the city on Thursdays.
Think about it. Someone posts: "I need mozote starts" Another responds: "How many" "10" "Ok, in 1 month on Thursday I will have 10 starts in bags. What do you have to exchange, any exotic fruit trees?" You get the idea. The possibilities are endless.
So chances are, since you are reading this electronic mail via the internet, that you have some faith in this medium and will use it to your benefit and the benefit of our growing community. And until we can develop some of our other abilities we just have to rely on the technology of the day. Until then, see you on Costa Rica South or in Perez Zeledon on Thursdays. |
